Job summary

A leading construction group in the UK is seeking a Facilities Management Commercial Manager to oversee commercial governance on a high-security PFI defence project. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in commercial roles within facilities management, alongside strong IT skills. This position is critical for ensuring adherence to commercial procedures while building relationships with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a commercial role within the facilities management sector.
  • Familiarity with client representatives.
  • Understanding of contract documents (PFI/Bespoke/JCT/NEC preferred).
  • Proficiency in data handling using Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all commercial aspects of the Project or portfolio.
  • Manage project forecasts and month-end commercial value reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to commercial governance and procedures.
  • Support resolution of disputes and manage client relationships.
  • Proactively seek process improvements and ensure compliance with company processes.

From critical infrastructure to daily operations, our work supports clients in defence, healthcare, and beyond. We are now seeking a skilled Facilities Management Commercial Manager to be responsible for ensuring commercial governance and activity across the project at Northwood Headquarters, a prestigious and high-security PFI defence contract site.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for all commercial aspects of the Project or portfolio.
  • Responsible for production of Project or portfolio Forecast and month-end CVR, including cost management, recovery of cost, and commercial entitlements, in line with Skanska OU Guidance.
  • Ensure commercial governance and procedures are adhered too.
  • Escalate to the Senior Commercial Manager any disputes or any other commercial matters, and where necessary support the Senior Commercial Manager in providing internal Skanska updates on progress and status. Build rapport with client, customer and other stakeholders, and on behalf of the Senior Commercial Manager, when necessary, manage the commercial interface.
  • The role will proactively seek process improvements to meet contract obligations and deliverables.
  • The role will oversee compliance to company process to protect entitlements and mitigate risk exposure.
  • Responsible for achieving the Governments’ Prompt Payment targets for supply chain payments on the Project or portfolio.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Experience of working in a commercial role within the facilities management sector
  • Experience of working with client representatives
  • Experience of Oracle or financial management system
  • Experience and general understanding of CAFM systems
  • Experience of contract documents (PFI/Bespoke/JCT/NEC is preferred)
  • IT proficiency e.g. MS Excel – pivot tables, data handling and manipulation via Power BI
  • Mentoring junior team members in commercial awareness
  • Strong governance and control applying relevant guidance as necessary.

This role requires a minimum level of security clearance and may also require a higher level of National Security Vetting. You should be aware that certain levels of clearance or specific projects and/or sites have UK residency requirements; and any dual or multiple nationalities must be declared. Any persons who do not fulfil these residency requirements may be unable to obtain the required level of clearance and would not be eligible to undertake this role.
