Job Title: Commercial Manager

Taylor Woodrow is recruiting for a Commercial Manager to lead commercial activities across infrastructure upgrade schemes within our south west region. The projects are typically city centre regeneration schemes or junction improvements with values of £2m-£10m.

Responsibilities:
  1. Initiate and lead tasks and processes, taking responsibility and being accountable for the work and roles of others, exercising broad autonomy and judgment within broad parameters in their area of responsibility.
  2. Manage a regional commercial team.
  3. Provide commercial support to tendering processes.
  4. Participate in the implementation of project commercial start-up procedures.
  5. Procure materials and off-site services efficiently, in accordance with Taylor Woodrow procurement policy, and maintain appropriate records.
  6. Prepare work package content sheets and ensure the project team contributes to and completes their relevant sections.
  7. Conduct gap analysis between packages to ensure full subcontract procurement.
  8. Prepare inclusive invitations to tender and complete tender evaluations, making recommendations for awards according to Taylor Woodrow procurement process.
  9. Collaborate with the supply chain to promote and measure continuous improvement in cost, quality, and learning.
  10. Maximize cash flow through timely valuation preparation, invoice submission, and payment receipt.
  11. Manage prompt final accounts settlement, including variations, claims, and disputes.
  12. Develop strategies for client negotiations.
  13. Review plant and equipment schedules for efficiency.
  14. Produce accurate and timely CVR reports and forecasts, contributing to financial target setting.
  15. Identify early project risks and opportunities, ensuring they are managed effectively.
  16. Use risk and opportunity registers to minimize risks and realize opportunities.
  17. Ensure recovery of costs related to client changes.
  18. Participate in early value engineering activities, including all associated costs of change within evaluations.
Person Specification:
  • Degree or Higher National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Previous experience managing commercial activities across multiple infrastructure projects.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartership is advantageous.
