Job Title: Commercial Manager (Utilities / Civils)
Location: West London / Thames Valley (Hybrid Working)
Salary: 80,000 to 100,000 + car & package

Commercial Manager - Lead a 50m+ Utilities Framework - West London / Thames Valley

We are representing a leading infrastructure contractor and supporting them with their search for a high-calibre Commercial Manager to take the commercial helm of a critical Mains Rehabilitation framework in the South East.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute individual to join a dynamic team and manage a significant and growing portfolio of work. You will be instrumental in the financial success of the framework, bringing your expertise to a hands-on, rewarding role.

This role sits within their thriving utilities division, focusing on a long-term Mains Rehabilitation framework currently valued at c. 50m per annum and projected to grow to 60m next year.

With the flexibility to be based from either their West London or Thames Valley offices, this role offers a chance to lead from the front, taking ownership of all commercial activities on the framework.

The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be deeply involved in the day-to-day commercial operations. As the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for safeguarding the framework's financial health and maximising its profitability. Your key duties will include:

  • Taking ownership of the financial performance of the framework, with a focus on accurate cost and value reporting (CVRs).
  • Leading the procurement and commercial management of the supply chain, including letting subcontract accounts and managing their performance.
  • Acting as the expert on the NEC form of contract, ensuring all commercial and contractual obligations are met and risk is effectively managed.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve and tweak existing commercial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and control.
  • Working closely with the operational team to provide robust commercial support, ensuring alignment between site activities and financial reporting.


What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong commercial background and a proactive, hands-on approach. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record as a Commercial Manager or a Senior/Managing QS ready to step up, gained within a main contractor environment.
  • Essential experience in infrastructure, utilities, or civils projects.
  • Expert-level knowledge of NEC contracts is a pre-requisite.
  • Demonstrable experience in producing detailed CVRs, managing large subcontract packages, and general contract administration.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
