An exciting opportunity to be part of the Commercial team at Leonardo, within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) Line of Business (LoB), which is a major growth area with ambitious targets over the short to medium term.

Leonardo is looking for a Commercial Manager to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment for the Air sector. Reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Manager, this role will provide commercial leadership and responsibility for the Eurofighter and Tornado export support contracts.

Leonardo plays a key role in the Eurofighter Typhoon programme, and is responsible for delivering over 60% of the on-board avionics of the aircraft, leading the consortia that develops both the Radar and Defensive Aid Sub-System from our Edinburgh and Luton sites.

This role will also take on responsibility for our Tornado support contracts, working with our customers Panavia and BAE Systems to ensure a support solution is delivered until the out of service date.

This role requires a flexible and adaptable mindset, and requires the role holder to be comfortable advocating commercial governance and practices within the organisation. This role is required to work at fast pace and to tight timeframes, so excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise is a must. In return this role provides exposure to a variety of contracts, customers and work environments.

The role could be based at any Leonardo UK site, on a hybrid working basis [with home working], but will require some attendance at Leonardo facilities on a semi-regular basis.

Occasional travel to customer and workshare partner companies within Europe and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be required.

Person Specification

  • Has a flexible mindset and adaptable approach.
  • Be skilled at managing a variety of tasks across a portfolio, adeptly prioritising and communicating effectively with key stakeholders and customers.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, communication, planning, problem solving, influencing, decision making and continuous improvement skills
  • Has an understanding of export legislation, import taxes and duties
  • Specialist knowledge of contract law, combined with excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Identifies and understand commercial risks and how to implement mitigation strategies
  • Has the ability to build effective and strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues, customers and partners
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Is proactive, tenacious and results driven
  • Will travel to internal and customers sites including occasional overseas travel
