Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional weekend work

Overview

The role of the Facilities and Maintenance Technician is to oversee the operation, maintenance, and security, ensuring its functionality and safety. This includes completing routine and emergency repairs to equipment, fixtures, fittings and building systems.

Principal accountabilities and responsibilities

Oversee repairs, maintenance, and ensuring the smooth running of essential services

Finding, negotiating with, and managing contractors for various services

Managing maintenance budgets, contractor accounts, and identifying cost-saving opportunities

Maintaining records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and parts inventory.

Performing regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and scheduled servicing of equipment, machinery, and building systems.

Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and other technical issues that arise and arranging contractors for certified repairs

Responding to urgent situations and making necessary repairs to minimize downtime and ensure safety.

Installing new equipment or machinery, as needed.

Communicating with supervisors, colleagues, and other relevant personnel regarding maintenance issues and progress.

Correct unsafe acts or conditions through regular line of authority, or exercise emergency authority to prevent illegal/unsafe acts where immediate action is required.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience in working in a similar role is essential

A thorough understanding of relevant health and safety laws and regulations is crucial for compliance.

IOSH & NEBOSH Qualified is advantageous

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively.

Ensuring accurate and thorough maintenance and repairs.

Ability to perform tasks that may require physical effort.

Building maintenance and repair knowledge: Understanding of building systems, equipment, and maintenance procedures is crucial

Competence in using computer systems, software and communication tools

Skilled in planning, organising, and executing projects within budget and timelines.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and ensure accuracy
