Job summary

Simpson Judge in London is seeking a Commercial Litigation Solicitor (1–2 PQE) to join its established Commercial Litigation & International Arbitration practice. This role offers exposure to high-value, international disputes and the chance to develop within a specialist environment.

Job description

We are working with a highly regarded specialist London disputes firm that is looking to appoint a Commercial Litigation Solicitor (1–2 PQE) to its established Commercial Litigation & International Arbitration practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior disputes lawyer looking to develop their career within a specialist environment and gain exposure to complex, high-value and international disputes.

The team acts for a sophisticated client base including multinational businesses, financial institutions, international organisations, sovereign entities and high-net-worth individuals, with matters frequently involving multiple jurisdictions.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Partners and senior lawyers, gaining significant exposure to both English High Court litigation and international arbitration.

The Role

You will work across a varied caseload of commercial litigation and international arbitration matters, with responsibilities including:

• Assisting with complex and high-value Commercial Litigation before the English High Court.
• Working on international commercial arbitration proceedings.
• Exposure to arbitrations conducted under institutional rules including LCIA, ICC, SIAC and DIAC.
• Assisting with complex cross-border and multi-jurisdictional disputes.
• Drafting correspondence, pleadings, witness statements, submissions and other legal documents.
• Conducting detailed legal research and analysis on complex contractual and commercial issues.
• Assisting with interim applications, injunctions and jurisdictional challenges.
• Supporting matters involving the recognition, enforcement and challenge of arbitral awards.
• Assisting with disclosure and preparation for hearings and trials.
• Attending client meetings, conferences, hearings and arbitrations.
• Developing direct client exposure as your experience progresses.
• Supporting the team's wider business development activities.

About You

We are interested in speaking with qualified solicitors with approximately 1–2 years' PQE who have developed experience within Commercial Litigation and/or International Arbitration.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 1–2 years' PQE gained within a recognised disputes practice.
• Experience working on commercial litigation and complex contractual disputes.
• Exposure to High Court proceedings.
• International Arbitration experience or a genuine interest in developing further expertise in this area.
• Experience of cross-border disputes would be advantageous.
• Strong legal research and drafting skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• The confidence to work directly with clients and senior lawyers.
• A commercial and pragmatic approach to disputes.
• The ability to manage competing deadlines and work effectively as part of a specialist team.
