Knowledge Development Lawyer | Commercial Litigation | Leading National Law Firm | Birmingham | Full-Time or 4 Days/Week | Hybrid Working Available

BCL Legal is delighted to present an exciting opportunity for an experienced Knowledge Development Lawyer (Commercial Litigation), or a senior Commercial Litigator seeking a new direction, to join a market-leading national law firm in their Birmingham office. This is a standout opportunity to shape and drive knowledge strategy within a high-performing Litigation and Dispute Resolution team.

The Role
This is a dedicated knowledge-focused role, offering the chance to work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and innovation across a broad spectrum of commercial litigation matters.

Key responsibilities include:

Keeping the team informed of legal developments (case law, CPR, legislation).

Creating and maintaining high-quality knowledge resources including precedents, guidance notes, checklists, and clause banks.

Supporting complex litigation work through legal research, tactical insights, and technical input.

Designing and delivering internal training programmes across all levels.

Contributing to business development, including legal updates and training for clients.

Supporting adoption of legal technology and efficiency tools.

This role is available on a full-time basis or 4 days per week, with hybrid working offered from the firm's Birmingham hub.

The Team
The Litigation and Dispute Resolution team is highly respected for managing complex, high-value disputes across sectors including banking, energy, education, tech, and manufacturing. Work includes commercial litigation, international arbitration, ADR, insolvency, fraud, shareholder and contractual disputes, and professional negligence.

The team prides itself on its inclusive culture, collaborative working style, and commitment to legal excellence.

The Candidate
Ideal candidates will have:

6+ years' PQE in commercial litigation, ideally gained at a recognised commercial practice.

Previous experience in a Knowledge Lawyer/PSL role is beneficial but not essential.

Strong technical understanding of commercial disputes, court processes, and procedural rules.

A passion for sharing knowledge, legal research, and supporting colleague development.

First-rate drafting, communication, and organisational skills.

Interest in or experience with legal tech (e.g. document automation, AI tools, e-signature platforms).
