About the role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Commercial Licenses & Data Partnerships Manager to drive commercial licensing initiatives and expand strategic partnerships within the shipping commodities space. You will play a pivotal role in identifying new business opportunities, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and negotiating commercial agreements that leverage our APIs and AI-driven solutions. What you will do in this role:

  1. Build and maintain strategic partnerships, licensing data deals, generating revenue through commercial licenses.
  2. Scout, negotiate, and agree on partnerships with entities that have relevant data in the shipping and commodities space.
  3. Develop and execute a commercial strategy to promote Signal’s APIs and data services to third-party companies building shipping/commodities solutions. Influence product development to accelerate business growth.
  4. Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to adjust strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  5. Collaborate with sales to structure, negotiate, and close deals that maximize value.
  6. Lead negotiations for licensing agreements, ensuring favorable terms and IP protection.
  7. Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align with business goals.
  8. Work with Product, Marketing, Legal, and Engineering teams to deliver solutions that meet client needs.

Requirements

What you bring to the team:

  1. Network and understanding of maritime and commodities industries and related technology offerings.
  2. Experience in chartering from any market perspective is a strong asset.
  3. Over 5 years in business development, partnerships, or licensing within shipping industries.
  4. Proven success in closing high-value agreements and partnerships.
  5. Understanding of data; Excel and SQL skills are highly desirable.
  6. Knowledge of data analytics, AI/ML, and SaaS products is a plus.
  7. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  8. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Willingness to travel as needed.
