Job summary

Grimshaw is looking for a Commercial Manager to join our London studio and lead commercial management on a large, complex infrastructure project. You’ll protect the practice’s commercial position while giving design teams the clarity and confidence they need to perform at their best.

You’ll report to the Project Partner and work closely with the design leadership, acting as their trusted adviser on commercial issues, risk spotting, and informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience of commercial management on large or complex projects in infrastructure, construction, engineering or professional services.
• Understanding of appointments, fee management, forecasting, change control and managing subconsultants.
• Experience with complex contractual agreements.
• Strong analytical and Excel skills, with ability to turn data into clear recommendations.
• Ability to negotiate, influence and explain commercial issues to designers and non-finance colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project’s commercial management plan, controls, reporting cycle and delegated authorities.
• Advise the leadership team with clear options and implications.
• Maintain live view of profitability, cash flow, WIP, forecast outturn and fee/resource plan.
• Identify, price, negotiate and close changes and additional services.
• Oversee billing, invoicing, certification, retentions and aged debt.
• Manage subconsultants from procurement to close-out.
• Own the commercial risk and governance register in collaboration with Legal and Finance.
• Develop project finance coordinators and administrators.
