Commercial Lead – Battery Electrification (Automotive & Defence Focus)

Contractor / Consultant Role | UK-Based | Immediate Start | Competitive Day Rate

Are you a commercially astute, technically credible professional with deep experience across the automotive and/or defence sectors? Do you have the network, insight, and initiative to help cutting-edge battery technology reach the right markets?

Our client, a pioneering battery cell manufacturer, is gearing up to ramp UK production from 2026. They are now seeking to unlock high-value market opportunities in high-performance automotive, defence, Industrial tooling, highways, and marine sectors.

To prime entry into new target segments, we're seeking a seasoned independent contractor with the insight, relationships, and strategic approach in some of these segments to:

  • Map the Market – Build a clear and actionable picture across priority sectors, including key supply chain players and engineering partners.
  • Uncover Opportunities – Identify current and future electrification programmes; pinpoint where this cell technology can offer competitive advantage and drive early-stage sales/ letters of intent
  • Target the Right Players – Highlight key OEMs, integrators, decision-makers, and programme sponsors who influence procurement and technology adoption.
  • Craft Winning Propositions – Develop tailored sales materials and value propositions for sector-specific applications, collaborating with partners as needed.
  • Open Doors – Leverage your own network (and/or open new ones) to secure meetings with decision makers and strategic GTM partners
  • Drive Early Engagements – Lead initial prospect meetings and support technical deep-dives leveraging the in-house engineering team.

Your background:

  • A strategic thinker with a track record of identifying and developing business in automotive, defence, marine, highways, industrial tooling or closely related sectors.
  • Well-connected with decision-makers, specifiers, or programme leads in relevant OEMs, integrators, or MoD-affiliated organisations.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously, able to work between commercial and technical teams.
  • Familiar with the dynamics of battery systems, powertrains, or electrification programmes – or capable of learning fast.
  • Ideally experienced in or connected to performance vehicle, drone, or light armoured vehicle applications.

This position will suit a UK-based independent contractor - 6-month initial term
