Job description

We are recruiting for a Commercial Lead to join us here at Navitas Engineering in either our London or Glasgow office. This is a mid level, hands on role reporting to the Commercial Manager and will suit someone with a background encompassing Commercial, Accounts and Finance experience who is flexible and keen to grow with a small business.

Navitas Engineering is a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy and part of Octavius and the RSK Group, one of the world’s leading integrated environmental, engineering and technical services businesses.

We provide engineering design, consultancy, technical assurance and specialist advisory services across the rail, energy and wider infrastructure sectors. Working with infrastructure owners, operators, contractors and consultancies, we help our clients deliver safe, sustainable and high-performing engineering solutions throughout the entire asset lifecycle.

You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)

The Commercial Lead supports the effective delivery and continuous improvement of the company’s commercial activities. Working under the direction of the Commercial Manager and in support of the Leadership Team, the role provides practical commercial support across bids and tenders, contract review, pricing and fee proposals, project commercial controls, reporting and commercial risk management.

The role works closely with project, engineering, finance and operational teams to promote the consistent management of commercial matters across the business. This includes supporting contract reviews, monitoring project performance, maintaining commercial information, coordinating variations and recovery opportunities, and assisting with forecasting and client or supplier commercial matters.

This is a developing commercial role, positioned between commercial administration and commercial management. Responsibility, autonomy and decision‑making authority will increase as the postholder builds experience, competence and understanding of the business. Significant contractual, financial or commercial risks will be escalated to the Commercial Manager or other appropriate members of the Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the commercial management of bids, tenders, proposals and contract reviews.
  • Preparing and reviewing pricing submissions, fee proposals and commercial documentation.
  • Monitoring project commercial performance, including revenue, margins, forecasting, variations and recovery opportunities.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and ensuring appropriate escalation where required.
  • Producing commercial reports, dashboards and analysis to support business decision‑making.
  • Maintaining commercial records, trackers, approvals and supporting documentation.
  • Supporting contract negotiations and commercial discussions with clients, suppliers and delivery partners.
  • Coordinating commercial processes, tools and governance requirements across the business.
  • Contributing to the development of scalable commercial systems, controls and best practices.
  • Promoting commercial awareness and supporting project and engineering teams in understanding contractual and commercial obligations.

You'll work with… (because relationships are important)

A team of highly motivated, dedicated professionals delivering engineering consultancy services across the rail, energy and wider infrastructure sectors.

You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, finance teams, operational leaders and business stakeholders to help drive commercial performance and support successful project delivery. You’ll also engage with clients, suppliers, delivery partners and framework organisations to support positive commercial outcomes and strong working relationships.

As part of a growing consultancy within the RSK Group, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a business that is investing in new markets, services and technologies while helping shape the future of infrastructure engineering in the UK.

You'll receive…. (because we value you)

  • Competitive salary.
  • Performance‑linked annual bonus.
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Hybrid working arrangements.
  • Flexible company pension scheme.
  • Octopus EV car scheme.

  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Employee discount programme.
  • Ride to Work scheme.
  • Gym allowance.

  • Mobile phone allowance.

About you…. (what you are skilled at)

You’ll be skilled at:

  • Commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Analysing data and presenting meaningful insights.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting bids, tenders and fee proposals.
  • Building positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Producing clear reports, dashboards and management information.
