Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on major infrastructure programmes in the UK. You will manage cost, change, risk and contractual performance, building strong client relations and guiding project teams with clear commercial advice.

You’ll contribute to procurement, forecasting and governance, support colleagues, and help grow a high‑performing, collaborative team across rail, highways and utilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantity surveying or commercial management within infrastructure, construction, or related built environment.
• Understanding of commercial delivery, contract administration, cost management, change control and risk management.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts; project management accreditation is desirable.
• Professional membership or progress towards membership with a relevant body such as RICS or CICES welcomed.

Join our Complex Projects team as a Senior Quantity Surveyor and help deliver work that makes a real difference for our clients, communities, and the environment.

This is an opportunity to take a leading commercial role across complex infrastructure projects, working with clients and colleagues in our north east region to deliver clear, robust, and value-driven outcomes. You'll support project delivery, strengthen client relationships, mentor others, and help shape a service offering built on technical excellence, commercial discipline, and trusted advice.

Our teams work across a wide range of complex infrastructure sectors, including rail, highways, utilities, defence, energy, and aviation. You'll bring your experience, curiosity, and judgement to help solve commercial challenges and deliver excellent outcomes for our clients including HS2, TRU, ECDP, Network Rail, National highways and Yorkshire Water.

Your role: Lead and support the commercial delivery of complex infrastructure projects, helping to manage cost, change, risk, value, and contractual performance. Build trusted relationships with clients and project teams through clear communication, proactive engagement, and practical commercial advice. Apply your knowledge of the NEC suite and wider commercial processes to support well-informed decisions and disciplined project delivery. Contribute to procurement, contract administration, forecasting, reporting, and commercial governance activities across commissions. Support, coach, and develop colleagues, helping to create an inclusive team environment where people can grow, contribute, and thrive. Work with senior leaders to strengthen our service offering, identify opportunities, and enhance the value we bring to clients.

About you

Experience in quantity surveying or commercial management within infrastructure, construction, or a related built‑environment sector. A good understanding of commercial delivery, contract administration, cost management, change control, and risk management. Working knowledge of NEC contracts, or a willingness to continue developing your expertise in this area. NEC project manager accreditation highly desirable but not essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues. A collaborative mindset, with an interest in supporting others and contributing to a healthy, high‑performing team culture. Professional membership, or progress towards membership, with a relevant body such as RICS or CICES would be welcomed.
