Commercial Lawyer Role in Reading

A reputable commercial law firm in Reading is seeking a Commercial lawyer with 0 to 2 years’ PQE. The ideal candidate is either about to qualify (having completed at least one seat in Commercial) or has been qualified for up to two years and is seeking a new challenge with outstanding colleagues.

The team specializes in various sectors, notably technology, automotive, and construction, serving clients ranging from large international corporations to owner-managed businesses, start-ups, and scale-ups.

This role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of work, including commercial, technology, intellectual property, and non-contentious construction matters. Responsibilities include contract drafting and negotiation (such as appointments, building contracts, and warranties), advising on data protection and IP issues, and providing due diligence support on corporate and banking transactions.

You will gain experience by collaborating on complex matters while managing your own caseload of straightforward cases under appropriate partner supervision, depending on your PQE.

Opportunities may also include in-house work with some clients on a remote or flexible basis, and involvement in the team’s retainer services, providing insight into both private practice and in-house environments.

The successful candidate should possess strong commercial acumen, focusing on practical solutions rather than perfect legal answers. Building client relationships and professional networks proactively is encouraged from an early stage. As part of a growing team, you will be expected to participate in marketing and business development activities, such as webinars, seminars, networking events, article writing, LinkedIn engagement, client visits, and internal relationship building.
