Commercial Investigator Job Location: Glasgow Job Type: Permanent Remuneration: Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications We have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Investigator based in the Glasgow area.

The Commercial Investigations team promotes best practice for the detection and containment of fraud, working exclusively on commercial insurance claims. This field-based role requires a skilled and motivated Commercial Investigator to manage a portfolio of commercial insurance claims that have been flagged as potentially fraudulent. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations, including planning and executing interviews, gathering and analysing evidence, and liaising with third parties such as brokers, contractors, and law enforcement agencies.

You will independently manage your caseload, ensuring accurate documentation and timely progression of each case. A key aspect of the role is maintaining strong communication with policyholders and stakeholders while upholding high standards of customer service and compliance with regulatory guidelines. You will also be expected to produce detailed reports, issue outcome letters, and contribute to the identification and reporting of fraudulent activity to relevant industry bodies.

This position offers a varied and engaging workload, requiring a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of insurance legislation and investigative best practices. You will play a vital role in promoting the Commercial Investigations Team and supporting our clients with expert fraud detection and resolution.

  • Insurance Knowledge: Apply a thorough understanding of insurance principles to commercial and property claims, including business interruption.
  • Claims Expertise: Demonstrate experience and knowledge in handling Commercial, Property, and Business Interruption claims.
  • Legal Awareness: Apply current case law, statutes, and legal liabilities effectively in investigations.
  • Indemnity Understanding: Understand and apply the principle of indemnity in the context of insurance claims.
  • Construction Knowledge: Possess relevant knowledge of building construction to support claim validation.
  • Evidence Handling: Identify, secure, preserve, and accurately record evidence during investigations.
  • IT Proficiency: Be confident using Microsoft Word and Excel as part of daily tasks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understand the role of the FCA and how it impacts your responsibilities.
  • Complaints Handling: Demonstrate knowledge of complaints procedures and apply them appropriately.
  • Data Protection: Understand and implement GDPR principles and procedures in all aspects of the role.
