Job description

Function: Commercial

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday

Location: Year 1 based out in the field nationally, Year 2 based in North West

Interviews: Assessment Centres (Bolton Head Office), July onwards

Are you an ambitious and aspiring future Commercial Manager, recently graduated and looking to build a career in the FMCG industry with the UK’s most loved brand? Then our Commercial Graduate roles at Warburtons are perfect for you!

The Recipe

We’re proud of our heritage and love our brand, and we know you will too! Working alongside our Commercial team, you’ll be given responsibility from the start, acting as a brand ambassador and guardian for our products. Upon joining, you will participate in our 3-year Commercial Academy programme, providing you with a strong business and commercial understanding of our products and services. We believe in learning by doing, so after an initial induction, you will be assigned your own territory and start selling Warburtons products immediately.

As a Commercial Graduate, your first 12 months will be spent in the field nationally, visiting customers to help grow their business and ours in stores, followed by a move into other Commercial areas in the North West. Building relationships and collaborating across the business are vital, as people and values are our most important ingredients.

At Warburtons, training and development are continuous. We focus on your career growth, offering lots of opportunities — this isn’t just a job, it’s a career.

The Role

We seek enthusiastic, motivated individuals with a passion for food retail (and bakery puns!). Our 3-year Commercial Academy programme offers field experience in the first year, understanding how our business and customers operate, then transitioning into other Commercial functions at head office.

Commercial is an exciting and innovative area at Warburtons, encompassing teams in Customer, Category, Marketing Communications, Product Management, Innovation, In-store Sales, and Supply Chain. Each team leads and supports various sales initiatives and brand campaigns to ensure we feed the nation with our No. 1 bakery brand.

We’ve also delivered marketing campaigns featuring celebrities like George Clooney, Peter Kaye, Robert De Niro, Samuel L Jackson, and Olivia Colman. While you won’t necessarily work with these stars, you will collaborate with highly skilled colleagues who know how to earn their crust!

By the end of the programme, you will have acquired all necessary Commercial skills and knowledge to succeed, with a foundation that can accelerate your career toward senior leadership within our business.

Essential Ingredients
  • Mobility: ability to travel nationally and be based in North West after Year 1
  • Full driving licence
  • Confidence to work autonomously and manage your workload
  • No prior experience necessary, but a commercial mindset, relationship-building skills, and curiosity about retail and market trends are beneficial
  • A problem-solving, idea-generating, and change-creating mindset
  • Ambition to support our commercial plans and personal growth
  • Graduate with a 2:1 or above expected or obtained
  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 or above
