Job summary

A growing engineering company is seeking a Skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team in South Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining commercial gas systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and conducting preventative maintenance. Valid COCN1 certification and a minimum of 3 years experience in commercial works are required for this position.

Qualifications

  • Valid COCN1 certification is a must-have for this role.
  • Ideally, 3 years minimum experience working on commercial works is preferred.
  • IPAF and PASMA certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Install commercial gas appliances, boilers, pipework, and heating systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Gas Safe regulations and site specifications.
  • Conduct routine Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on commercial gas systems.

Skills

Strong knowledge of commercial gas systems
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Overview

My client is currently in the market for a Skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team covering South Wales. As a growing business, ensuring each team member holds good values is important and so they are looking for someone that can not only get on with the job at hand but also be a team player, supporting others and creating a positive working space for themselves and others.

Responsibilities
  • Install commercial gas appliances, boilers, pipework, and heating systems to manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Ensure new installations are fully compliant with Gas Safe regulations and site specifications.
  • Commission and test installations, completing necessary certification and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams and site managers for planned installation work.
  • Carry out routine Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on commercial gas systems, plant rooms, heaters, and appliances.
  • Conduct inspections, system checks, and servicing to maintain efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Record all maintenance tasks and findings using company systems or job management software.
  • Ensure all safety controls, interlocks, and ventilation requirements are functioning correctly.
  • Respond promptly to reactive service calls and emergency breakdowns.
  • Diagnose faults on commercial gas systems and heating plant (e.g., boilers, radiant heaters, warm air units).
  • Perform effective and timely repairs or escalate if specialist intervention is required.
  • Maintain van stock and ensure the availability of necessary parts and tools.
Requirements
  • Valid COCN1 (Must Have)
  • Full UK Driver's licence
  • Ideally 3 years minimum experience working on commercial works
  • Strong knowledge of commercial gas systems
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • IPAF, PASMA (Desirable)
