Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading District Heating company to recruit a Commercial Gas Engineer working across their sites in London and South.
The Commercial Gas Engineer role comes with a salary of up to 45,000 + private medical insurance + company van + benefits.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Commercial Gas Engineer Role

Reporting to the Lead Commercial Engineer you will:

  1. Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial plant systems (gas boilers, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc.)
  2. Diagnose and repair faults in commercial gas boilers from various manufacturers.
  3. Respond to reactive call-outs, investigate system failures, and reinstate services on site.
  4. Participate in an on-call rota, ensuring critical support outside of core hours (1 week in 4).
  5. Safely isolate systems mechanically and electrically before commencing repairs.
  6. Keep detailed and accurate maintenance records through a digital work order system.
  7. Support root cause analysis for recurring faults to improve system resilience.
  8. Manage small-scale remedial works and help define project scopes with the engineering team.
  9. Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and site-based stakeholders.
  10. Contribute to a culture of innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  1. 3 years' experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer or in a similar role.
  2. Commercial gas certifications (e.g., TPCP1, BMP1) required.
  3. NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering or related qualification (preferred).
  4. Full UK driving licence (minimum 12 months validity).
  5. Comfortable reading technical drawings (e.g., P&IDs, schematics); basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
  6. Can work an on-call rota (approx 1 in 7 weeks).
