Commercial Gas Engineer

Location: HMP Albany (IOW), Albany, 55 Parkhurst Rd, Newport PO30 5RS

Salary: £41,818.21 per annum

Contract: Permanent, full time, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Commercial Gas Engineer to join our team at HMP Albany (IOW), a category B adult male prison. Join a team that works Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, creating a safe environment.

HMP Albany operates like a self-contained city, requiring many staff to maintain its functions. Our Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to ensuring smooth and safe operations, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, families, and the community.

As a Commercial Gas Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment.

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Utilize your skills to improve safety and efficiency within the facility.
• Have at least two years of experience as a heating or combustion engineer or similar role.
• Be familiar with Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements.
• Comply with Gas Safe (installation and use) regulations 1998 and industry standards.
• Experience with commercial catering gas appliances is beneficial.
• Hold relevant certifications: C&G 6035, C&G 6189, NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, CCN1, COCN1.
• Possess good health and safety knowledge, organizational, time management, and people skills.
