Job summary

Unify is seeking a qualified Commercial Gas Engineer to join our Property & Facilities Support team in Crawley. This permanent, full-time role involves working across a portfolio of commercial retail sites, maintaining gas systems, diagnosing faults, and performing minor works with a strong emphasis on safety.

You will hold key gas qualifications (COCN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, TPCP1/1A) and a full UK driving license, enabling autonomous scheduling and on-call duties.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Uphold health and safety standards to ensure compliance with regulations and company expectations.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and small works across multiple commercial sites.
• Diagnose and resolve faults in commercial boilers and heating systems, including lockouts and circulation issues.
• Service and repair gas appliances such as warm air units and radiant tube heaters.
• Identify and rectify gas-related issues (leaks, faulty valves, ignition) and troubleshoot control systems (thermostats, sensors).
• Perform general building maintenance tasks (basic electrical, carpentry, painting) and manage work orders via mobile systems.
• Collaborate with planners, store managers, and colleagues; participate in an on-call rota as needed.

Core Responsibilities

• You will uphold stringent health and safety protocols to ensure all completed tasks strictly adhere to regulatory and company standards.
• As a Commercial Gas Engineer, your primary technical duties involve carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and small works across a diverse portfolio of commercial retail sites.
• In addition, this Commercial Gas Engineer role requires diagnosing and resolving faults on commercial boilers and heating systems, including lockouts, pressure issues, and circulation faults.
• You will service and repair a range of gas appliances, including warm air units and radiant tube heaters.
• As an active Commercial Gas Engineer, you will identify and rectify gas-related issues such as pipework leaks, faulty valves, and ignition or pilot failures, while troubleshooting and repairing control systems like thermostats, sensors, and actuators.
• You will also perform general building maintenance, including basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and minor fabrication, and utilize mobile technology and internal systems to manage work orders.
• Furthermore, a Commercial Gas Engineer will partner smoothly with planners, colleagues, and store managers, complete administrative tasks, support operational objectives, and take a turn on an on-call rota.

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

• To qualify for this Commercial Gas Engineer position, you must hold valid commercial gas qualifications such as COCN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, and TPCP1/1A.
• You need to demonstrate robust knowledge and practical experience of commercial heating systems, boilers, and associated plant equipment.
• We require proven experience working in a retail, commercial, or multi-site maintenance environment.
• You should possess proven multi-trade capability covering general building upkeep beyond core gas work.
