Commercial Finance Manager - Business Partnering

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our commercial finance team, supporting the strategy of some of the most significant areas of the retail business. We are looking for a Finance Business Partner who can drive performance to deliver financial targets, advise on commercial initiatives through insight and challenge, and foster relationship building within the role.

You will support both our General Merchandising (GM) department and Commercial Supply function. Reporting to the Head of Finance for GM, Boots Brand, Supply, and Working Capital, you will be part of the Commercial Finance business partnering team. You will work closely with our FP&A and Financial Control teams, maintaining direct relationships with the General Merchandise Business Unit Director, Heads of Trading Categories, and Heads of Supply Chain.

Key responsibilities
  1. General Merchandise: Supporting Heads of Category (Mens, Toiletries, Dental, Nutrition & Baby - Gross Rev c£800m) and their teams with performance analysis to inform future commercial decisions.
  2. General Merchandise: Approving business cases and investments.
  3. GM and Supply: Assisting in creating strategic and stretching plans for GM and Inventory Working Capital.
  4. GM & Supply: Holding teams accountable for delivering their budget, forecast, and 3-year plan (3YP).
  5. General Merchandise: Improving the profitability of the GM department.
  6. Supply: Supporting Heads of Supply Chain with analysis and tracking inventory programs to provide insights for performance and targets.
  7. Working Capital: Partnering with Project Leads to monitor benefits and providing monthly reports for the Steering Committee.
  8. All Areas: Developing relationships with commercial, supply teams, and key finance partners in FP&A and Financial Control.
What you'll need to have

Essential experiences include:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Experience in financial analysis and partnering with leadership teams
  • Ability to hold business partners accountable
  • Highly analytical with reporting and data review skills
  • Issue identification and action-driving capabilities
  • High energy, resilience, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Team player attitude
  • Strong Excel and SAP BW skills

Desirable skills include knowledge of Commercial TM1 reporting and Power BI, and previous experience in a business partnering role. Applications from candidates without these additional skills are welcomed.
