JSS is partnering with a market-leading retail PLC to appoint an exceptional Commercial Finance Director based in Hertfordshire on a hybrid basis. The role leads a high-performing team and provides direct visibility to executive board members.

You will own the financial strategy for a major, high-revenue unit, influence investments, pricing, and margin improvement, and mentor eight senior Commercial Business Partners to sharpen strategic output.

Competenze

• Full professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with extensive post-qualification leadership experience.
• Proven track record in large-scale, complex environments (multi-billion-pound PLC, multinational, or PE-backed).
• Experience in Retail, FMCG, Aviation, or similarly regulated sectors.

Mansioni

• Act as trusted commercial adviser to executive team and shape future direction of the division.
• Lead and mentor a team of 8 senior Commercial Business Partners to drive strategic output.
• Provide the financial framework for commercial decisions including pricing, promos, and supply chain efficiencies.

I am currently partnering exclusively with a market-leading, multi-billion-pound retail PLC to identify an exceptional Commercial Finance Director.

Based from their Hertfordshire headquarters on a hybrid basis, this is a pivotal leadership appointment. The role inherits a high-performing team and offers significant, direct visibility to several executive board members. It represents a hugely additive career step for a commercial finance leader accustomed to the complexities of large-scale corporate environments.

The Opportunity

Operating as a key advisor to the commercial & operational executive team, you will take financial ownership of a major, high-revenue business unit. This role is entirely focused on driving commercial strategy, optimising margin performance, and influencing high-stakes investments.

Key aspects of the mandate include:

• Board-Level Influence: Acting as a trusted commercial sounding board for multiple group executive members, challenging assumptions, and shaping the future direction of the division.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Heading up an established, high-performing team of 8 senior Commercial Business Partners, focusing on their continued professional development and strategic output.
• Commercial Steering: Providing the financial framework for complex commercial decisions, including pricing strategies, promotional analysis, and supply chain efficiencies across a multi-billion-pound P&L.

The Candidate Mandate

Given the scale and complexity of this business unit, our client has defined a strict profile criteria. To be considered for this exclusive shortlist, you must possess:

• Professional Foundation: Full professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with extensive post-qualification experience in senior leadership roles.
• Scale Experience: A proven track record within highly complex, large-scale environments- specifically multi-billion-pound PLC, multinational, or large Private Equity-backed structures.
• Sector Alignment: Essential experience gained within complex, low-margin, high-volume, or heavily scrutinized industries. Candidates must come from Retail, FMCG, Aviation, or another highly regulated sector.
• Strategic Business Partnering: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and align with board-level stakeholders.
• People Leadership: A background of leading and maximizing the potential of capable, senior-level finance professionals.

Remuneration & Package
