Job description

Rotheram Carrington Recruitment Group are pleased to be supporting a key Client based in the Cheshire/Crewe area in the recruitment of a Commercial Finance Analyst. This role would report to the Commercial Manager.

The purpose of this role is as follows:

Your primary function will be to maintain and prepare commercial information, analysis and reconciliation to support the strategic decision-making process. These tasks include but are not limited to producing periodic forecasts for revenue / profit / stock, supporting monthly/weekly reconciliations, maintaining business performance trackers, KPI’s & preparing monthly open book P&L statements.

Support the Commercial Manager in providing timely and accurate information to the senior leadership team to support decision-making. You will need to be able to deputise for the Commercial Manager with key business stakeholders.

The key responsibilities would include:

  1. Prepare daily & weekly performance reports for Management and additional teams.
  2. Perform such in-period reconciliations between key Sales & Materials systems as may be required to support the Finance team in improving process effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability.
  3. Prepare accurate and timely reports.
  4. Support the Commercial Manager in ensuring that financial issues arising are escalated efficiently and effectively.
  5. Work with the transactional teams to ensure ledger accounts are accurate and up to date.
  6. Support the Group Management in communicating and achieving margin and working capital targets.
  7. Support Commercial Manager in the preparation of timely and accurate month-end reporting – including but not limited to – paid claims reconciliations, supplier rebate calculations, as well as other month-end activities.
  8. Provide variance analysis on the month-end results to support understanding of actual performance and forecast in the Management Accounts.
  9. Work with stakeholders to identify and report on business trends and value opportunities, assisting in the delivery and measurement of the value delivered.
  10. Provide operational input to support day-to-day tasks within the Finance department and ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
  11. Support in the delivery of robust financial control procedures, maintaining appropriate process and policy documentation.
  12. Working with the wider Finance team – to recommend, participate in and as appropriate, lead Finance process, systems or tooling transformation activity.
  13. Where necessary, assist with annual audit, preparation of statutory accounts and tax planning / compliance activities.
  14. To carry out any other reasonable duties defined by the Company to ensure business objectives / requirements are met.

Skills/Experience

  1. Part-qualified CIMA or ACCA or relevant Degree / HND educated with minimum 2 years’ experience or QBE with minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar environment.
  2. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  3. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills – working with high volumes of data.
  4. Experience of designing & implementing sustainable Excel, SaaS or database models would be an advantage.
  5. Strong analytical skills.
  6. Excellent attention to detail.
  7. Results focused.
  8. Happy working as a sole-contributor and able to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
  9. Ability to work under pressure, to react fast to changes & meet tight deadlines.
  10. Superb communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  11. Clear thinking, with sound understanding of calculating profitability on deals and able to make recommendations from data.

Salary/Benefits

  1. Up to £45,000 per annum (possibly higher dependent on experience).
  2. Onsite working – full-time hours.
