Job description

Our client is seeking a Commercial Fee Earner to join their team in Manchester, Greater Manchester on a hybrid basis.

My Client are Specialist commercial lawyers providing legal support to a wide range of clients across all sectors. They act for small and medium-sized enterprises and owner-managed businesses in the northwest, nationally and beyond. Examples of some of their current/recent work and clients is set out below.

Acting as outsourced in-house counsel, dealing with all commercial contract and advisory matters for:

  • A large conglomerate of businesses in the healthcare sector, including businesses offering digital healthcare solutions, rehabilitation management, and medico-legal reporting.
  • A group of local businesses in the leisure sector (restaurants and bars).
  • A local university.
  • A national law firm; and
  • A number of high-profile athletes/sports personalities.

They also represent clients in manufacturing, food, insurance, recruitment, and tech sectors in relation to commercial contract drafting and negotiation. My client provides advice from the first principles stage, often supporting clients in identifying their needs in relation to a commercial proposition prior to them engaging their supplier or client.

There is great variety in their client base; some are very well-established businesses, others are relatively new or disruptors in their market, some clients are in-house lawyers, and others are commercial stakeholders. Their work therefore demands that candidates are:

  • Agile in our thinking.
  • Able to provide a pragmatic solution which fits the client and the situation.
  • Able to communicate effectively with people from many different backgrounds.

These vacancies have arisen as a result of the continued success of the existing team in supporting the firm’s and the department’s clients – in short, they have more work than they can do at the service level they want to offer. They offer good client contact, the opportunity to develop close working relationships with clients of the firm and excellent progression opportunities.

The ideal candidate:

  • A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years of PQE in commercial work (private practice or in-house), with data protection expertise as a “must have” and intellectual property and/or IT expertise as a “nice to have”;
  • A proven track record in client care at a level appropriate to your experience – able to establish a strong rapport with clients and attract repeat work from the quality of the service they provide.
  • Are able to work flexibly whilst recognising the need to attend the office and clients’ premises where needed to meet the requirements of the role.

Please Note: Due to the number of applications we receive we may be unable to respond to every application directly. If you have not heard from us within 3 working days, please assume your application has been unsuccessful.
