Job summary

TavasTechs is seeking a Commercial Executive to join our Cardiff-based team in a permanent, full-time hybrid role. You will work across commercial, project and procurement teams to support financial management from tender through completion, ensuring projects stay on budget and meet contractual requirements.

The ideal candidate has a background in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management and is proficient in Excel with strong numerical and stakeholder skills.

Qualifications

• Background in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Cost Engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Finance, or related discipline.
• Familiar with NEC, FIDIC or EPC contracts advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and maintenance of project budgets, cost forecasts and financial reports.
• Support estimating activities, including BOQs, cost build-ups and tender submissions.
• Assist with contract administration, purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
• Prepare and manage variation documentation, cost evaluations and claims submissions.
• Support preparation of interim valuations and payment applications.
• Assist with Material Take-Offs and quantity reconciliations.
• Monitor and maintain project change control procedures.
• Contribute to cost forecasting and commercial risk management activities.
• Support procurement with supplier evaluations, bid comparisons and assessments.
• Ensure compliance with commercial procedures, governance, and reporting standards.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, procurement teams and stakeholders on commercial matters.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation for contractual and audit purposes.

Commercial Executive

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Executive to join a growing engineering and construction organisation delivering complex projects across a range of industrial sectors.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with commercial, project and procurement teams, supporting the successful financial management of projects from tender stage through to completion. You will play a key role in cost control, contract administration, forecasting, procurement support and commercial reporting, helping to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with contractual requirements.

This Commercial Executive position would suit someone with a background in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Cost Engineering who is looking to further develop their career within a dynamic project environment.

Commercial Executive - Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project budgets, cost forecasts and financial reports.

Your Skills and Experience

• Experience within Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Cost Engineering or a similar commercial role.
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Finance or a related discipline.
• Working knowledge of contract administration, variations, claims and payment processes.
• Familiarity with NEC, FIDIC or EPC contracts would be advantageous.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and commercial or ERP systems.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional membership, such as RICS, or progress towards accreditation would be beneficial.
