Job Description

We are seeking a Domestic & Commercial Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer for our client, a reputable mechanical engineering and building services company known for delivering design, installation, and maintenance services across public and private sectors.

The role is primarily based near Billericay until July, after which overtime and potential travel/stay away are expected, especially for school projects. The engineer must be willing to travel and work longer hours as required. Additional locations include M25 and the surrounding counties.

• Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm

Responsibilities

Perform service and breakdown repairs on gas and heating systems in domestic and commercial environments, including AC, ASHP, Biomass, Boilers, etc. The role offers opportunities for progression into team leadership and facilities management, requiring practical and managerial experience. Accurate completion of paperwork, service sheets, and records is essential.

Work distribution:

• 50% in Essex
• 25% in London & Home counties
• 25% travel & stay away, on a rota basis

Requirements

• Extensive experience in servicing and breakdowns in domestic and commercial gas/heating systems
• Knowledge of mechanical aspects of plant rooms, boilers, heating appliances
• Experience with HVAC systems, AC, ASHP, renewables (desirable)
• Valid ACS Commercial and Domestic Gas Tickets (e.g., COCN1, COGN1, CIGA1, CDGA1)
• Additional plumbing or industry-specific qualifications are advantageous
• Experience working in schools, hospitals, occupied commercial premises, and private/sheltered/council homes
