Job description

Our growing Facilities Management business is looking for an experienced Commercial Director to join its senior leadership team.

With extensive experience in FM, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing commercial strategies that maximise value, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance.

You will lead our talented operational and commercial teams to ensure effective strategies are in place for the end of term exit of our PFI & LIFT contract portfolio, enabling strategic contract management, dispute resolution, financial forecasting, and stakeholder engagement.

This is a hands-on role, overseeing the commercial interfaces between FM, Eric Wright Partnerships (a division within the Group), and workflows out of the PFI & LIFT SPVs.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Strategic Commercial Leadership
  2. Develop a hand back strategy to mitigate end-of-term LIFT & PFI contract risks.
  3. Test lifecycle models, ensuring compliance and funding sufficiency.
  4. Provide strategic input into bids, contract negotiations, and business growth opportunities.

Contract Management

  1. Lead commercial oversight of all contracts, ensuring full compliance and maximized cost recovery.
  2. Serve as the escalation and dispute resolution point for commercial issues.
  3. Drive the commercial function to deliver value and maintain profitability and competitiveness.

Financial Performance

  1. Enhance profitability through robust governance, lifecycle planning, and contract optimization.
  2. Ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling aligned with contract performance.

Additional responsibilities include stakeholder engagement, people leadership, development, and supporting business growth.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Significant experience as a Commercial Director or Senior Commercial Manager in facilities management, PFI, or related sectors.
  2. Deep knowledge of PFI contract structures, performance regimes, and financial mechanisms.
  3. Experience working with public sector clients such as NHS Trusts, Local Authorities, and Educational Institutions.
  4. Strong financial and negotiation skills.
  5. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  6. Professional memberships like MRICS or CIPS are desirable.
  7. Proven leadership in winning new work and supporting bid processes.
  8. Values-driven, self-motivated, with successful team leadership experience.
