Job summary

Irwin Mitchell is seeking an experienced costs professional to join our Commercial Litigation costs team. You will prepare Bills of Costs for detailed assessment and inter parte Bills, and manage costs negotiations across high-value commercial matters.

You’ll interact directly with clients, provide strategic costs advice, and support case handlers through the life cycle of disputes, with opportunities to train junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience in costs drafting, ideally in commercial litigation or related contexts.
• Strong knowledge of procedures relevant to commercial litigation.
• Excellent communication skills and professional client-facing manner.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Bills of Costs for detailed assessment and inter partes Bills.
• Handle costs negotiations and litigation for a range of commercial clients.
• Provide strategic costs advice and interact directly with clients.
• Support case handlers throughout the lifecycle of commercial disputes.
• Contribute to training and development of junior team members.
