Job Description:

Support the Commercial Project Management Team for a major tunnelling project in Manchester. Provide robust commercial controlling reports and mechanisms to help achieve project targets, aligned with company’s internal directives, procedures, and guidelines at multiple levels.

  • Project Financial Forecasting: Responsible for internal project forecast reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, using bespoke reports and an ERP system.
  • Short & Medium-Term Planning: Prepare planning reports as part of internal reporting requirements.
  • Cost Tracking & Performance Analysis: Track planned vs. actual costs, performance, and results in collaboration with Project Accounts and Commercial Management teams.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Implement and maintain internal controls and compliance checks according to company standards and guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Support: Support non-financial project stakeholders regarding project performance and educate staff on financial processes and policies.
  • Asset Management: Participate in tracking stocks, inventory, and surplus materials.
  • Cost Data Maintenance: Keep updated cost-to-employ data for project employees for various purposes.
  • Reporting: Prepare internal project commercial reports, planned vs. actual cost reports, asset and inventory reports, and ad-hoc reports.
  • Staff Charge Rates: Prepare rates for proper cost allocation and external charging.
  • Coordination: Work with project and business unit controllers to ensure site reporting and compliance.
  • Financial Audits: Participate in audits and ensure proper closure of observations.
  • Team & Interdepartmental Coordination: Coordinate with project accounts, procurement, QS, site stores, IT, and administration teams, and liaise with external finance teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a similar field, or equivalent of 5 years relevant experience.
  • CSCS Card (relevant type) for site-based work.
  • 3 years team leader experience in project-based finance/accounting within construction, infrastructure, or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel (intermediate to advanced), and financial/accounting software.
  • Strong IT, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Team player, capable of managing a team if required.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently during project mobilization stages.
