Job description

About Spiralis Energy

Spiralis Energy is an innovative marine energy company delivering next-generation marine infrastructure for local and global impact.

Our work bridges engineering, sustainability and digital transformation — from small-scale harbour charging to scalable tidal generation systems, along with run-of-river applications we blend startup agility with industry-grade governance, targeting both environmental benefit and investor-grade returns.

Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially minded leader to own, develop and deliver the commercial and contractual backbone of Spiralis projects and partnerships. You will drive procurement strategy, manage supply chain risk, shape client and funder agreements, and ensure compliance with best-in-class commercial frameworks (e.g. NEC4, FIDIC, government funding terms). You’ll be pivotal in structuring ventures that align with our goals and values — transparent, sustainable, and smart.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Leadership
    • Lead all commercial activities across Spiralis’ projects and ventures.
    • Develop commercial strategies for energy delivery, infrastructure, and technology pilots.
    • Shape go-to-market frameworks including pricing, risk-sharing, and revenue models.
  • Contract Management
    • Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with funders, clients, suppliers, and JV partners.
    • Ensure contracts align with public sector and investor requirements (e.g. grant terms, CfD, PPA).
    • Establish and enforce contract management procedures and compliance.
  • Procurement & Supply Chain
    • Lead procurement planning and execution, including supplier onboarding and evaluation.
    • Manage commercial aspects of major subcontracts, manufacturing, and installation agreements.
    • Develop and maintain preferred supplier frameworks.
  • Governance & Risk
    • Support funding and due diligence processes with robust commercial inputs.
    • Collaborate with technical, legal, and financial leads to align risk and reward.
    • Contribute to board-level reporting and investor materials on commercial matters.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial and contract roles within infrastructure, energy, or construction.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of NEC3/4, FIDIC, or equivalent standard forms.
  • Proven track record of structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Understanding of public funding, grant schemes, and investment processes.
  • Ability to work across legal, technical, and financial disciplines.

Desirable:

  • Experience in marine, renewable energy, or innovation-led delivery models.
  • Familiarity with sustainability-linked procurement or ESG contracting.
  • Chartered status (RICS, IACCM, CIPS, or equivalent) preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strategic thinker with pragmatic execution skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commercial risk management.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with hands-on flexibility.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to influence at all levels.

Why Join Spiralis?

  • Help build the next generation of clean marine energy.
  • Shape commercial models for a smarter, more sustainable future.
  • Work with an ambitious, agile team bridging engineering, AI and infrastructure.
  • Flexible working arrangements. (This is NOT a remote working opportunity)
