About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Commercial & Contracts Lawyer with approximately 5 years’ post-qualification experience to join our in-house legal team. While a significant part of the role will focus on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, the successful candidate will also provide legal support across a wide range of matters, making this an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking for variety and responsibility in a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts.
  • Advise business teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risks, ensuring commercially practical outcomes.
  • Support broader in-house legal needs, including in relation to transactions, corporate governance, compliance, employment and regulatory matters.
  • Assist in liaising with external counsel when required.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and legal processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Provide training and guidance to colleagues on key legal and contractual issues.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business and advise stakeholders accordingly.
Experience and Skills
  • Qualified lawyer with around 5 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), although applications from all levels will be considered on merit.
  • Strong foundation in commercial law and proven experience negotiating international contracts.
  • Open to performing a wide-ranging day-to-way workload
  • Prior in-house experience, or demonstrable interest in an in-house career.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance risk against business objectives.
  • An effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of discretion and professionalism.
  • Collaborative and pragmatic, with confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders.
Desirable
  • Exposure to / interest in the mining and metals sector.
  • Experience supporting cross-border transactions.
