Job summary

Abacus Careers in Belfast is seeking an Associate to join its Commercial Contracts & Technology team, handling a broad range of commercial and IP matters. You will draft and negotiate software/licensing agreements and provide strategic legal advice to clients.

The role focuses on commercial contracts, IP and data protection with exposure to a busy, well-regarded practice and a strong tech client base. NI-qualified or eligible with a plan to practise in NI is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate-level experience in commercial contracts, technology or IP.
• NI qualification, or E&W/ ROI qualification and a plan to practise in NI.
• A practical, deal-focused approach to negotiation.
• Interest in data protection and emerging tech regulation.

Responsibilities

One of NI’s top commercial firms is looking for an Associate to join its Contracts & Technology team, advising clients across a wide range of sectors.

Day to day focus:

• Drafting and negotiating supply, outsourcing, agency, distribution, reseller and OEM agreements
• Software and hardware licensing for local and global businesses
• Protecting and commercialising intellectual property
• Data protection, privacy and Freedom of Information advice.

Ideally you’ll have:

• Associate-level experience in commercial contracts, technology or IP
• NI qualification, or E&W / ROI qualification and a plan to practise in NI
• A practical, deal-focused approach to negotiation
• Interest in data protection and emerging tech regulation.
