Overall job description:

The Commercial Claims Manager will manage and resolve legacy claims from construction projects in the UK. Responsibilities include ensuring effective commercial and legal strategies, maximising insurance recoveries, leading investigations, providing strategic advice, managing risks, and collaborating with project teams, legal, and external advisors. The role also involves disseminating insights, delivering training, and mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities:

• Providing commercial and strategic advice on legacy claims within a busy legal team based in Central London.
• Managing claims and investigations, and developing solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Overseeing external lawyers and experts, including managing budgets and timelines.
• Leading insurance recoveries efforts for legacy claims.
• Providing cost management advice for remedial works.
• Delivering commercial training and mentoring across teams.

Requirements for success:

• Proven experience in a similar role within a construction or related organization.
• Strong knowledge of commercial management principles and construction law.
• Familiarity with JCT contracts; knowledge of NEC 3 or 4 is a plus.
• Commercial leadership skills and risk/opportunity identification.
