Commercial Capability Manager

Reporting to: Director of Capability & HR

Dept/Pillar: Capability, Comms & HR

Hours: 37 (potentially flexible)

Grade/Salary: From £51,721 (dependent on experience)

Role Overview

BlueLight Commercial is the lead for commercial capability development and commercial excellence in the Police Sector. We have developed a range of training courses for the sector and are now expanding our activities to deliver contextualised qualifications and apprenticeships across the blue light sector, focusing initially on the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification suite.

In this role, you will primarily be responsible for managing the BlueLight Commercial (BLC) CIPS study centre and operate as the key BLC contact for the awarding and funding bodies and Ofsted, supported by the Capability and Qualification Co-ordinator and other members of the Capability team.

You will also be responsible for planning and delivering CIPS courses and apprenticeships while supporting students in their studies alongside other CIPS tutors. You will plan, develop and deliver engaging sessions, assess learner progress, and provide feedback and guidance.

You may also be required to develop and deliver some standard and bespoke commercial training sessions from time to time and contribute to the Capability functions strategy and overall delivery plan.

You will be part of a small Capability team, forming part of the wider Capability, HR and Communications Team and an integral part of BlueLight Commercial, supporting the achievement of the organisation’s key strategic aims.

My Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Managing the CIPS study centre and being the key contact for awarding, funding, and apprenticeship bodies.
  • Leading the recruitment of learners and tutors with support from relevant BLC teams.
  • Developing timetables and schemes of work.
  • Monitoring Tutor performance and other quality assurance activities in conjunction with the Course and Qualifications Co-Ordinator.
  • Preparing for and hosting inspection visits or audits by awarding bodies, Ofsted, and funding bodies.
  • Planning, developing, and delivering engaging learning sessions for online delivery.
  • Developing and setting standards for e-learning, course notes and handouts, videos, blog posts, and other content.
  • Undertaking reviews of the effectiveness of training delivery methods.
  • Reviewing current and future trends for learning.
  • Supporting learners with endpoint assessment, keeping records of learner attendance and progress.
  • Supporting the development and expansion of BLC’s Capability income stream.

Qualifications & Accreditations

You are someone who has attained:

  • Level 6 CIPS Professional Diploma
  • Relevant teaching or training qualification

Experience & Knowledge

You are someone who has:

  • Experience with online learning platforms and virtual training delivery.
  • Experience in delivering CIPS training courses, procurement apprenticeships, or similar procurement and supply chain qualifications.
  • Experience of working to the policies and processes required to deliver accredited qualifications and apprenticeships.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in procurement, including the public sector.
