Job description

Are you passionate about agriculture and technology? Do you have deep experience in the Agri sector and a strong understanding of both New Zealand and UK farming ecosystems?

Who we are:

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand's international business development agency. New Zealand businesses are in demand, and the London team are looking for a Commercial Business Advisor (known internally as a Business Development Manager) to help New Zealand agricultural technology businesses enter and thrive in the UK and Ireland.

This is an exciting opportunity to represent NZ businesses that produce high-quality agricultural technology solutions.

What you'll be doing:

Based at the New Zealand High Commission in central London, this role focuses on supporting New Zealand companies in the Agri-tech sector, while also leading strategic planning across the Europe Region to strengthen awareness and preference for New Zealand agriculture and agricultural technologies.

You’ll drive growth and innovation in the agricultural sector by shaping strategy, building strong industry relationships, and supporting New Zealand companies in the UK and Europe. You’ll collaborate with technical experts, represent the sector at key events, and open doors for long-term partnerships.

Your work will span identifying potential in-market partners, developing new channels to market, uncovering growth opportunities, and providing valuable market insights.

While your primary focus will be on Agribusiness, you’ll also support companies operating in other sectors as needed.

What you'll need to be successful:
  • Proven experience in agri-tech or agriculture, ideally with strong knowledge of both New Zealand and UK farming ecosystems, gained in sales, account management, or consulting roles.
  • Skilled in shaping and delivering sector strategies, managing diverse company portfolios, and identifying opportunities for market entry, competitive advantage, and sustainable growth.
  • Be a confident communicator with a strong network across the agri supply chain, able to quickly build trust and connect companies with the right partners, distributors, and decision-makers.
  • Your enthusiastic attitude, proactive nature, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in virtual teams will be critical to your success. You'll also be tech savvy, with solid CRM, marketing, go to market strategy, and business models experience.
  • You'll also be flexible, adaptable, and have a high degree of comfort working with ambiguity.

As this role covers both the UK and Ireland, you will be required to travel across the UK and Ireland regularly and lead out on a range of events.

Please note: applicants must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom/London. The role is known internally as a Business Development Manager (BDM).

There is an expectation to work from our London office at least three days per week.

This role is banded LON L17
