Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP is seeking a qualified ACA/ACCA auditor to lead audit engagements and manage client relationships in a dynamic environment. The role emphasizes technical excellence in ISAs, UK GAAP and IFRS, with responsibility for planning, execution and delivery.

The successful candidate will coach teams, ensure quality, manage budgets and contribute to business development while upholding risk management standards.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with post-qualification experience.
• Strong technical grounding in ISAs, UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience managing engagement teams and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Takes overall responsibility for planning, executing and completing audit engagements.
• Acts as the primary client contact on day-to-day matters.
• Identifies and evaluates complex audit risks and designs audit strategy.
• Manages engagement budgets, timelines and profitability.
• Leads and coaches a team of Assistant Managers and Associates.
• Maintains strong client relationships as a trusted advisor.
• Contributes to proposals and business development as required.
• Adheres to risk management policies and mandatory training.

Job Description

• Takes overall responsibility for planning, executing and completing audit engagements, acting as the primary point of contact for the client on day to day matters

• Applies detailed technical knowledge of ISAs, UK GAAP and/or IFRS, and the firm’s audit methodology, and is a point of reference for the team on technical queries

• Identifies and evaluates complex audit risks, designs the audit strategy and ensures the approach is proportionate and defensible under review

• Manages engagement budgets, timelines and profitability, escalating overruns and agreeing scope changes with the client as they arise

• Leads, coaches and develops a team of Assistant Managers and Associates, delegating effectively and reviewing their work to a high standard

• Builds and maintains strong client relationships, being seen by the client as a trusted advisor rather than just an auditor

• Identifies and helps convert cross service line opportunities, contributing to the growth of the wider practice

• Reviews financial statements and ensures compliance with relevant legislation and disclosure requirements

• Consults appropriately with Engagement Leaders and specialists, including Valuations and National Assurance Services, on judgemental or high risk areas

• Contributes to proposals and business development activity as required

• Adheres to the firm’s risk management policies, including whistleblowing and quality reporting processes, and consults with colleagues on any concerns

• Maintains ongoing professional development and completes mandatory training relevant to the role

• Acts with integrity and in line with our organisational values

What we are looking for

ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with post qualification experience gained within an audit environment. Strong technical grounding and demonstrable experience managing engagement teams and client relationships.
