Part of a local team assisting the Commercial & General Manager with commercial control & reporting on high standard Commercial activities related to Housing properties, delivering excellent commercial acumen, customer service, and ensuring safety, quality, and cost control standards are met.

  • Ensure accuracy of work order pricing through review and quality checks, including sub-contractor data submissions, to facilitate timely invoicing, maximize cash collection, and minimize unbilled work.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors to resolve queries or disputes, report pricing discrepancies or trends to the Commercial Manager, and ensure correct coding, compliance with job specifications, and recoverability of costs to prevent payment delays.
  • Monitor overheads and manage cost control for the contract, including vehicles, equipment, tools, stock, and petty cash.
  • Provide coding advice to the Planning Team to ensure correct job raising or variations.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver a commercially competent service, ensuring high satisfaction levels with performance according to operational and contractual standards.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach by communicating professionally with stakeholders, upholding appearance standards, company ID, and health & safety policies, and keeping company assets in good condition.
  • Assist with additional tasks related to commercial activities as needed.
  • Participate in company and client meetings and training sessions as required.

Role Criteria:

  • Experience in a commercial environment, preferably within the Social Housing Sector.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a busy office setting.
  • Proficiency in IT and computerised systems.
  • Strong time management, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, questioning, and interpersonal skills.

All roles require candidates to have the right to work in the UK; Mears does not sponsor visas currently.

To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held a license for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.

All roles are subject to DBS/Security checks prior to employment.
