Job description

LSL Property Services is one of the UK's largest providers of services to franchised estate agencies, mortgage intermediaries, and valuation services for many of the UK's biggest mortgage lenders.

We are looking for a Commercial and Corporate Solicitor to join our in-house legal team at our York Head Office on a fixed-term contract.

As the Commercial and Corporate Solicitor, you will provide legal support across a variety of matters including commercial contracts, corporate transactions, franchising, and contentious issues. You will also contribute to data protection and information security across the Group.

Main Accountabilities & Key Objectives

Business Legal Support

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including distribution, mortgage club, and valuation services contracts
  • Provide franchising advice and draft related legal documentation for the LSL Franchise network
  • Support the business on contentious matters, including commercial disputes and data protection claims

Corporate Transactions

  • Support the General Counsel and Head of Legal with strategic acquisitions and disposals
  • Coordinate with external counsel on complex transactions or disputes
  • Assist with documentation of loans by the Financial Services and Franchising Divisions

Commercial Contracts

  • Provide legal advice and support on general commercial contracts across all business areas

Data Protection & Information Security

  • Support legal aspects of data protection and draft relevant agreements
  • Advise on compliance with the Group's data protection and privacy policies

Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with at least 3 years' PQE (as of 2025)
  • Strong expertise in commercial contracts, corporate law, and data protection
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize effectively
  • Commercially astute with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships across business areas
  • Enthusiastic team player with a client-focused and solution-oriented approach
