We build, operate and maintain onsite, large-scale energy assets like Solar PV and Combined Heat and Power – to help businesses to save the planet and save money. We’re also transforming the UK’s energy landscape by partnering with landowners and developers to build a 900MW portfolio of new grid-scale solar farms and battery storage assets.

About your role:

Centrica has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Analyst to join our Centrica Business Solutions team in the UK. Centrica Business Solutions is a leading provider of sustainable and energy efficient solutions to clients in many private and public-sector industries. We have a history of sustained growth, and we have excellent opportunities for further significant expansion both in the UK and overseas.

The role involves collaboration with the Sales, Finance and Commercial teams. The focus will be to help private and public sector customers lower their carbon footprint and/or energy costs.

The purpose of the role is to develop business cases and financial models for Managing Director and Leadership Team approval. Where required, the role will support the Net Zero Pathways team.

The responsibility of the role will cover three core areas: commercial mindset, technical analysis and energy and decarbonisation knowledge.

Commercial Mindset

Ability to demonstrate energy solutions and pathways in the context of a commercial business case.

Ability to bring together multiple criteria into models to provide recommendations to customers e.g. costs, energy savings, regulations, investment and customer requirements.

Develop an understanding of key financial indicators and ability to apply these to a variety of solutions.

Ability to think creatively to find solutions which meet customer needs whilst balancing the commercial outcome for CBS.

Develop an understanding of risk and risk profiles on a variety of solutions depending on funding options and energy savings.

Technical Analysis

Intermediate/advanced Excel skills (VBA skills would be an advantage) and eye for detail.

Good IT skills in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.

Ability to multi-task and task-switch across projects and stakeholders and meet multiple deadlines.

High quality oral and written communication.

Confidence presenting solutions to senior stakeholders in CBS.

Ability to provide clear and concise explanations to senior stakeholders of complex solutions/problems.

Ability to learn new software for energy modelling as required.

Energy and decarbonisation knowledge

Understanding of technology solutions: solar PV, CHPs, heat pumps, boilers and demand side measures.

Ability to understand how the technologies generate energy/carbon savings and revenue streams for the customer.

Develop an understanding of relevant industry regulations and future innovation.

Develop an understanding of key funding routes for both private and public sector customers.

Work closely with the Net Zero Pathways team to improve and develop tools for modelling.

Here's what we’re looking for:

Excellent numeracy and IT skills, must be fluent in common MS packages.

Degree qualified in relevant science/energy/engineering subject.

Intermediate/advanced Excel ability.

An inquisitive, analytical mind and attention to detail.

Good problem-solving skills.

A self-starter with drive and initiative.

Excellent stakeholder management, able to collaborate well with internal and external colleagues across geographical locations.

Team focused.

Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Location:The role will be predominantly home-based, however, there will be a requirement to be in either our Windsor ( SL4 5GD ) or Salford (M50 1DS) offices circa 1 day per week.
