Job summary

Focus Resourcing is seeking a highly skilled Analyst for an established organisation on the outskirts of Reading. The role suits someone with around 5–10 years' experience who loves data, financial models and Excel, and wants a long-term position with stability rather than rapid progression.

You will analyse commercial metrics, update multi-year Excel models, and collaborate with Operations and Sales to ensure numbers are accurate and commercially sensible.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years' experience in an analytical or finance-related role.
• Strong Excel skills including formulas and modelling.
• Understanding of key financial concepts (DCF, IRR, NPV).

Responsibilities

• Conduct commercial analysis and evaluate financial risks and opportunities.
• Review cost inputs from Operations and Sales, provide feedback.
• Engage in bid pricing and summarise key financial metrics for approvals.
• Support contract variations and obtain formal approvals.
• Assist financial reporting of long-term contracts and model updates.
• Maintain advanced Excel-based financial models for long-term planning.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure model accuracy.
• Present complex financial information clearly to stakeholders.

Are you highly skilled in Excel, naturally analytical and someone who takes real pride in getting the detail right?

We are working with a well-established and growing organisation on the outskirts of Reading that is looking for an experienced Analyst to join their team.

This would suit someone with around 10 years' experience who enjoys working with data, financial models and Excel, and is looking for a stable, long-term position where they can use their expertise without necessarily wanting the pressure of management or career progression.

You will be highly organised, methodical and detail-focused, with the confidence to question figures, spot inconsistencies and make sure the numbers make commercial sense.

What you'll be doing:

• Commercial Analysis
• Assess financial risks, opportunities, and the impact of business strategies
• Review cost inputs provided by Operations and Sales, sense checking and providing feedback
• Engage in bid pricing and summarising key financial metrics to enable deal approval
• Contract & Reporting Support
• Process contract variations in accordance with laid down commercial parameters and seeking formal approval
• Support financial reporting of long-term contracts both internally and externally
• Update financial models to reflect contract variations and revised business plans
• Collaborate with multiple departments to gather data and ensure model accuracy
• Financial Modelling
• Maintain, and improve advanced Excel-based financial models, ensuring they are robust, auditable, and user-friendly
• Manage multi-year Excel financial models to support long-term planning
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial models, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly
• Gather inputs for Financial Modelling, maintaining records and audit trails
• Manage day to day Team requests
• Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
• Present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner
• Approach all work with a disciplined, analytical mindset, always asking whether outputs make commercial sense
• Question assumptions with confidence, push back where necessary and engage stakeholders in a professional fact based manner

Experience needed

• Around 5-10 years' experience in a analytical or finance related role
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, modelling, data manipulation)
• An interest in commercial finance and business strategy
• Understanding of key financial concepts (e.g., discounted cash flow, IRR, NPV)
• A numerical, analytical, and inquisitive mindset
• Strong communication skills - able to present complex data clearly
