Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an analytically minded commercial analyst to support major contracts and supplier governance in a regulated environment. The role prioritises financial modelling, cost validation, and insight into market trends to identify opportunities and risks.

You will work with Commercial Managers, contribute to governance materials, and help ensure timely payments while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across levels of the organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent (desirable).
• Experience in financial/modelling and contract management.
• Strong commercial acumen with supplier management skills.
• Qualifying professional certifications are a plus (CIMA, Prince2, IACCM).

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day commercial management of major contracts and supplier relationships.
• Ensure regulatory and key control requirements for outsourced services are delivered.
• Validate supplier charges and ensure invoices are paid within contract timescales.
• Provide analytical and reporting support to Commercial Managers.
• Identify commercial opportunities and risks from market trends.
• Lead and coordinate supplier governance and record minutes at meetings.
• Support cost validation and forecasting cycles.

Job description

• Support day-to-day commercial management of M&G’s major contracts and supplier relationships
• Ensure regulatory and key control requirements for outsourced supplier services are delivered
• Validate supplier charges, challenge inaccuracies, and ensure invoices are paid within contract timescales
• Provide analytical and reporting support to Commercial Managers
• Provide insight into M&G needs and industry/market trends to identify commercial opportunities and risks
• Challenge the cost base to identify cost-reduction opportunities without detriment to service
• Lead and coordinate formal supplier commercial governance, including production of materials and minutes
• Attend Executive-level governance meetings to record minutes and actions
• Support the development and application of Supplier Management best practice
• Manage the cost validation and forecasting cycle
• Respond to wider business queries regarding contract information
• Independently manage aspects of M&G’s contracts under the direction of the Commercial Manager
• Independently manage smaller project initiatives
• Identify and implement AI opportunities to create efficiencies

Requirements

• Working knowledge of analytical tools and techniques including AI
• Working knowledge of financial modelling
• Working knowledge of contract management principles and practice
• Experience of providing analytical support in complex business environments
• Some experience of working in a commercial / regulatory environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• High levels of attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
• Demonstrated commercial acumen
• Pragmatic, with good judgement
• Capable of independent working and working effectively across a wider team
