Job summary

TalentPool in East Midlands is seeking a Commercial Analyst to drive data-led decision making across major retail channels and influence growth, profitability, and strategic direction.

You will collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Demand Planning and Supply Chain teams to deliver forecasting, performance reporting, and actionable insights that support business objectives and customer success.

Qualifications

• Advanced Excel and Power BI expertise.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer and channel performance reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards.
• Support sales forecasting and planning activities with cross-functional teams.
• Analyze customer, product, and category performance to identify trends and risks.
• Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to support decision making.
• Evaluate promotions, pricing, and ROI.
• Monitor trade spend against budgets.
• Deliver profitability analyses to inform strategy.
• Generate insights using internal and external data sources.
• Support reviews, presentations, and annual planning.
• Drive continuous improvement across reporting frameworks and tools.

Our client, a well-established and highly successful consumer goods business, is seeking an analytically minded Commercial Analyst to join their commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving data-led decision making across major retail channels, helping to influence growth, profitability, and strategic direction.

Working closely with Commercial, Finance, Demand Planning, and Supply Chain teams, you will deliver meaningful insights, accurate forecasting, and performance analysis that support business objectives and customer success.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer and channel performance reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards.
• Support sales forecasting and planning activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and alignment.
• Analyse customer, product, and category performance to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
• Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to support commercial decision making.
• Evaluate promotional activity, measuring sales uplift, profitability, and return on investment (ROI).
• Monitor trade investment and customer spend against budget targets.
• Deliver pricing, margin, and profitability analysis to support commercial strategy.
• Generate customer, category, and market insights using both internal and external data sources.
• Support customer reviews, business presentations, and annual planning processes.
• Drive continuous improvement across reporting frameworks, analytical tools, and business processes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Experience within an FMCG, retail, or consumer goods environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear commercial recommendations.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI capabilities.
• Experience in forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting.
• A sound understanding of commercial P&L drivers, pricing, and customer profitability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
