Job description

Watkin Jones is on the lookout for a forward-thinking and driven Commercial Analyst to join our team and help shape the future of data-led decision making across the Group.

This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to build and refine the processes that underpin our commercial reporting, while delivering meaningful insights into both internal performance and broader market dynamics. You’ll be at the heart of data extraction and validation, working closely with colleagues and systems to maintain a robust database and manage key reports and payment claims.

Beyond the numbers, you’ll craft commercial reports, spot emerging trends, and collaborate with the Group Commercial Director to define KPIs that truly reflect our strategic goals. With a focus on innovation, you’ll also lead market research and competitor analysis, and work cross-functionally to recommend smarter, more efficient ways of working. Based in our Bangor office in North Wales, the role embraces agile working, giving you the flexibility to operate from home or other offices with prior agreement from your line manager.

What we’re looking for:

The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 education in a related discipline or substantial experience in a relevant profession. You should demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development, including training and staying updated on industry trends and best practices. Essential skills include proficiency in database management and data extraction, advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis and reporting, strong problem-solving abilities, and a keen attention to detail.

You must be able to interpret data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations, as well as effectively communicate findings to non-technical audiences. The role also requires the ability to assertively support a point of view, negotiate, and influence decisions while maintaining positive working relationships. Experience with data visualisation tools is essential, and prior experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including senior management, is desirable. Previous experience in a data analyst role would be an advantage.

At Watkin Jones, we believe in investing in our people. Here’s what we can offer you:

  • Professional Growth: Individual support for your career advancement.
  • Rewards: Discretionary annual bonus, health cash plan, life insurance, and more.
  • Work-Life Balance: 25 days of annual leave (increasing with tenure), agile working arrangements, and discounted gym memberships.
  • Benefits: Exclusive shopping discounts, and a contributory pension scheme.
