Following a period of solid growth both organically and through acquisition, with plans to continue on this trajectory, Dark Matter Commerce are looking to grow the finance team with this new role that will report into the Finance Manager.

The Finance Director and Finance Manager are looking for someone to join the team who can support on a wide variety of tasks. This role is not limited; if you are looking to continue to grow, develop and learn, then those exciting opportunities will be there.

What You’ll Be Doing

The following should give you an idea of how you will be spending your time. It is not set in stone and it may change from week-to-week, but it gives an idea of what is expected from the role:

Commercial Reporting

Working alongside key members of the operations team, you will lead the monthly reporting of:

1. Team utilisation and capacity reports
2. Client and team profitability and recoverability
3. Ad hoc commercial reports

Management Accounts

Each month/quarter you will:

1. Reconcile the revenue following monthly client lead calls
2. Post accruals and prepayments
3. Reconcile the balance sheet accounts
4. Prepare to trial balance including profit & loss and balance sheet
5. Preparation of the month end management accounts with commentary
6. Reconciliation of quarterly reporting
7. Analyse variances between actual and budgeted figures, identifying key drivers.
8. Review of the quarterly VAT return for submission to HMRC

Budgeting & Forecasting

1. Support in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with other finance members and other key members of the team
2. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing timely feedback.
3. Assist in financial planning processes by offering insights into key revenue and cost drivers.

Book-keeping

1. Raise sales invoices to clients
2. Credit control responsibilities
3. Credit card back up documentation reconciliation
4. Post monthly FA additions
5. Post supplier invoices
6. Prepare supplier payment runs

Adhoc

1. Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
2. Drive the adoption of best practices in commercial accounting and financial analysis.
3. Continuous monitoring and review of costs to ensure they are still required and to identify any cost savings.

Who You Are

Skills and Qualifications

1. Preferred qualification AAT and part qualified (CIMA, ACCA)
2. Previous finance experience in a similar role
3. Self-confessed excel lover, very strong skills!
4. A good analytical mind who is keen to get into the detail and look at trends and variances
5. Previous experience of online accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage)
6. Great communication skills, with the ability to interact with senior management and non-financial teams.
7. High level of organisation and time management and able to work autonomously as well as a team
8. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
9. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
10. Experience in a service business is strongly preferred but not required
