Job summary

RHL Recruitment is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead occupational health and safety activities across Scotland, with some travel to England. The role requires NEBOSH Diploma and progress toward CMIOSH, plus 2–3 years in a COMAH-regulated setting.

You will drive safety improvements, oversee regulatory compliance, and collaborate with depot teams, operations and projects to ensure ALARP delivery and robust safety systems.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma holder with progression toward CMIOSH.
• 2–3 years’ HSE management experience in a COMAH environment.
• Resident in Scotland.

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement of Health & Safety performance and promote a positive safety culture.
• Provide HSE leadership ensuring legal compliance and support behavioural safety initiatives.
• Oversee safety-critical activities within a COMAH environment and collaborate with Depot Managers, Operations, Engineering and the Executive team.
• Communicate with stakeholders from Competent Authority to site operatives and maintain regular site presence.
• Act as a competent person for Occupational Health and Safety within the organisation.
• Assist site leads in developing compliant systems and safe working practices.
• Support projects to ensure regulatory compliance and manage ALARP for COMAH sites.
• Monitor compliance with COMAH and other UK H&S legislation such as asbestos, legionella and COSHH.
