Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the stoma team at the University Hospitals of Liverpool Group.

The role of the stoma nurse will be to support the stoma team in the Digestive and Emergency Surgery care group. You will be providing specialist care and giving advice to patients with stomas.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care for our group of patients. The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of stoma care to support patient care. You will be communicating complex and sensitive information to patients and their families or carers.

The role includes educating patients, their families, or carers on caring for stomas, including advice on lifestyle and equipment for patients with both newly formed and long-term stomas. The successful candidate will provide guidance to address new educational needs or challenges faced by patients.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work closely with the current stoma team across UHLG sites, collaborating with surgeons and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The CNS will participate in outpatient clinics.

The role also involves participation in audit, research, and development of the stoma service.
