Job summary

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Colorectal Consultant Surgeon to join the GI Unit at Salisbury District Hospital. The post includes 10 PAs per week, with a 1-in-10 on-call commitment and flexible weekday hours, including limited weekend work with TOIL/remuneration in line with NHS terms.

The role involves outpatient care, operating sessions, and active involvement in endoscopy, teaching, research and appraisal.

Qualifications

• Possession of a CCT in General Surgery leading to entry onto the GMC Specialist Register
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
• Experience in colorectal and general surgery including advanced laparoscopy and robotic techniques
• JAG accreditation in Lower GI Endoscopy
• Sub-specialist interests in Rectal Cancer and IBD Surgery
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to governance, teaching and audit

Responsibilities

• Undertake outpatient sessions in the Salisbury District Hospital outpatient department
• Undertake operating sessions in main theatres and day surgery
• Provide 1:10 on-call cover for general surgery
• Provide colorectal patient support on a 1:10 basis alongside general surgery on call
• Support colorectal endoscopy activity
• Contribute to teaching and to clinical governance within the trust
