Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Colo Electrical Regional Engineer to drive electrical engineering services and implement enterprise data centers globally. You will collaborate with Design Engineering Stakeholders, Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams regionally and worldwide, leading fit-out projects and site audits.

You will evaluate mechanical/electrical systems, make data-driven decisions, and ensure adherence to AWS guidelines while expanding the hyperscale fleet.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
• Experience in mission critical facilities (data centers, power, oil and gas).
• Experience researching new data center designs and construction methods.
• Experience in commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Work with Colo vendors to review data center designs and incorporate AWS requirements.
• Act as Resident Engineer during new Colo construction projects and support commissioning.
• Troubleshoot, perform RCA and create CA documentation for site/equipment issues.
• Provide technical support for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions.
• Lead site audits, assess risks, and recommend mitigations.

Job description

As a Colo Electrical Regional Engineer, you will drive Electrical Engineering services, construction and implementation of enterprise data centers, which meet quality and performance levels across the globe. You will work directly with our Design Engineering Stakeholders, Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams regionally and globally. You will be leading projects to fit out the data centers we support to meet ever-evolving customer needs as we continue expanding our fleet to hyper-scale. The Colo Electrical Regional Engineer is the engineering representative on behalf of the Data Center Colo Regional Engineering team responsible for the successful delivery of projects. In this role, you will assist in Data Center site selection, planning, development. You will evaluate different mechanical/electrical systems and make a data driven decision about a suitable solution based on our guidelines.

Key job responsibilities

• Work with Colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in your region, including design input, submittal review and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design is meeting AWS expectations.
• Act as Resident Engineer during new Colo construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
• Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event support.
• Provide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
• Supporting operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing Colocation data center upgrades which improve availability/efficiency.
• Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.
• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
• Initiate and lead engineering site audits within Colo data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.

You will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally. You will be leading projects to fit out the data centers we support to meet ever-evolving customer needs as we continue expanding our fleet to hyperscale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
• Experience in commissioning

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer License
• Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
