A leading educational organisation in Doncaster is seeking a dedicated Day Support Worker to assist students with severe learning difficulties. You will provide tailored support and ensure effective communication with colleagues and families. About The Role

The role of the day support worker is to provide support for students with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD), and to work with tutors to ensure the delivery of an effective programme of further education and to work as part of a co-ordination team. As a day support worker you will provide individual and bespoke support to individual learners or small groups as required. You will provide written and verbal feedback in respect of progress and achievement during the day using IPlanit, or other standardised means of recording.

It will be the role of a day support worker to ensure all recording is completed at the end of the day to guarantee timely and effective action as well as communicating effectively with parents and/or carers as required and set up communication books if required.

Salary and terms and conditions as per support worker, except:

  • Working hours Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
  • The post is term time only with 12 weeks’ holiday during the academic year.
  • Line management provided by college education team.
About You

You must be active with a keen interest in health and fitness, confident to support in the water to attend swimming sessions.

Proactive, forward thinking with a passion for education to support student’s to achieve their targets.

Excellent communication skills, experience with Makaton and PECS is desirable.

You will be able to understand and relate to students with special needs and who need careful and detailed support to access learning. You will need to have the ability to supervise and support students in classrooms and off site.

As a strong team player and excellent communicator you will work alongside education colleagues, care colleagues and clinicians to help us provide the highest standards of care and education across the College.
