Job summary

Cambian Lufton College in Yeovil is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to join a dedicated team. You will clean designated areas, including student housing and communal spaces, to maintain a hygienic and safe environment for students.

You will follow infection control policies, restock supplies, and support staff as needed. The role requires flexibility across college areas during term-time and adherence to safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• To undertake cleaning (toilets, kitchens, corridors and stairs) of communal areas, homes, offices and educational areas. Housekeeping Assistants may be allocated specific areas of responsibility which may change from time to time.
• To maintain the standards and working practices set through the infection control policy and expectations of the college, as directed by the Admin Manager and Head and College at all times.
• To dispose of rubbish, replenishing toilet, cleaning and sanitary items where required and within a timely manner.
• To support care staff where required, to clean students’ rooms to satisfactory standards at the end of each term in preparation for their return.
• To ensure all equipment is used correctly and left in good working order at all times;
• To monitor areas for damage, reporting any problems to the Admin Manager.
• To notify the Maintenance Manager of any repairs required to broken furniture and fixings and other excessive wear and tear that may place others at risk.
• To maintaining tidy cleaning cupboards and following risk assessments – including COSHH risk assessments and stock checking of cleaning areas.
