Job summary

East Lancashire Learning Group (NELSON & Colne College) seeks a skilled Cook to join the catering team. The role supports the Catering Manager in preparing and serving nutritious meals across our outlets and events, maintaining high standards of food presentation, hygiene and customer service.

The position is based on the Nelson & Colne College campus with potential travel to other sites. 30 hours per week, permanent contract, closing date 25 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 GCSE qualifications including Maths and English (C/4)
• Basic food hygiene certificate required
• Experience in a busy, high-volume catering operation
• Excellent customer service skills
• Knowledge of COSHH and food hygiene requirements

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality, fresh and nutritious food with good presentation
• Adhere to Health and Safety and COSHH procedures
• Operate within budgets, manage portion control and stock
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across catering areas and equipment
